What’s the idea behind a perpetual notion. I’m over 50. Among other things I have an interest in men’s style; not fashion. Of course you have to pay attention to the trends if only to know what you’re ignoring and why. I think I have something to say. Although normally the notion has disappeared before I’ve written it down. So that’s the challenge. Primarily a perpetual notion will include thoughts about men’s style as well as music together with other things that interest me. Not simply a style blog – perhaps a magazine. My simple principle will be to consider the conflicts between growing old gracefully v disgracefully; not dressing, or acting like a teenager but also not becoming my father or granddad; mutton v lamb: stylish not staid. The predominant topics will be what can I wear as I get older and will I still listen to indie music in 5, 10, 15 years time. My interests include:
- Vintage clothing
- Utility wear
- Ivy league style
- Nineteenth/twentieth century work wear – from coveralls to suits and back again
- Music – Indie, Alternative, Americana, Blues, Jazz and Classical
- Art
- History
Menswear brands I like:
- Universal Works
- Pike Brothers
- Blue de Paname
- Engineered Garments

Why a perpetual notion?
Perpetual means: persistent, continuous, recurring, never-ending, incessant. Notion is an opinion, a thought, perception understanding or view. A perpetual notion will be my thoughts, my perception. Hopefully it’ll be continuous.
