I have a birthday coming up so I thought that I’d put together a wish-list of items that I’d like to own.
Shinola Runwell Watch 47mm
The leather watch strap is from American-manufactured leather, produced by Hadley-Roma in Largo, Florida.
At £475, the Runwell is one of the least expensive watches in the Shinola range and it’s available from www.shinola.co.uk or you could call in to the recently opened London store on one of my favourite streets in London – 13 Newburgh Street, Soho, London. Afterwards you could visit Levis Vintage Clothing opposite! The Shinola range of watches starts at £430 and goes up to around £900.
The original Shinola brand made shoe polish was established in 1907 but by 1960 was out of business. But the name was bought a venture capital company and re-launched as an American watch manufacturer in 2011, by Tom Kartsotis who was one of the founders of the Fossil Group. The aim was to develop an American watch that would rival Swiss brands but at a lower retail price. While many of the parts for Shinola watches are made in Switzerland all the pieces are assembled in Detroit.
