When I was considering buying an M65 Jacket I considered several brands before settling on the Uniformes Generale version (see previous posts). The M65 jacket has been reproduced by many menswear brands so there’s a fair amount of choice.
All the brands and jackets I considered, before making my final decision have, in my view, remained true to the jackets heritage and original styling. So if you want to create that Vietnam veteran vibe these are the choices.
Alpha Industries M65 Field Coat
The Apha Industries coats and jackets tend to have a looser fit so you might need to go down a size when purchasing. The quality of Alpha products are high as you’d expect from a brand that supplies clothing to the US military. The Alpha M-65 jacket comes in a range of colours including Khaki, black, Olive, navy or camouflage. They’re priced around £115.
Buzz Ricksons Type M65 Combat Jacket
The Buzz Rickson M65 Combat Jacket is an authentic recreation of this famous jacket using robust materials including military grade satin-backed cotton. Price around £260.
The Real McCoy’s M65 Field Jacket
I love The Real McCoy brand – the style, the sensibilities. The Real McCoy version is probably as close to the originals. They take great care to recreate an authentic look and feel while adding their own details such as webbed cuffs and sewn in front zip cover. Made in Japan; with 100% cotton outer and 50% cotton / 50% polyester lining. They’re not cheap but they are the real deal. Price around £525.
